On 24 May, Uppsala University will hold its grand Conferment Ceremony. 130 PhDs and 39 jubilee doctorates will be formally conferred in the Grand Auditorium of the University Main Building.

In the ceremonial conferment act, the new PhDs receive their symbols of honour: a ring, a diploma, and a hat or laurel wreath. As doctors, they are also entitled to use the third symbol, the ring. Those who received their doctorate fifty years ago are invited to the Spring Conferment Ceremony as jubilee doctors.

In the evening, a dinner and dance is hosted in the Hall of State (Rikssalen) at Uppsala Castle. Nearly 700 people take part in the Conferment Ceremony dinner – the new PhDs and jubilee doctors with families, invited honorary guests, teachers and other university employees.
