Mental Health with a Focus on Depression, Physical Activity, and Screen Time
About the project
Depression is a complex subject. Therefore, more studies are needed to increase the understanding of depression. This project includes four studies, all focused on young men and women in Sweden between the ages of 15 and 29. Through interviews, we want to give young men and women the opportunity to express their own experiences of depression. In this way, we can gain a greater understanding of the concept. We also want to find out if there are simple measurement methods that can be used to assess depression among young people. In addition, we aim to track trends in depression over time through a comprehensive study where we follow participants for two years to monitor how different factors change over time. In this project, we will focus on physical activity and screen time to determine if these factors affect depression.
Purpose
The aim is to increase knowledge about depression. Considering that depression is on the rise in the country according to several sources, it is important that more research is conducted so that we can understand what might be causing it. An important part of the research is to contribute knowledge that can eventually lead to the development of new interventions to reduce depression in society.
