The Historical Swedish Population Panel

The Historical Swedish Population Panel (HISP) is a longitudinal database covering the lives of 1,500 Swedish men and women born across Sweden between 1860 and 1900. The individuals have been randomly sampled from censuses and birth registers and then followed in catechetical registers throughout their lives. Every important event, such as migration, marriage and occupational transitions, has been recorded. Moreover, information on their household members has been recorded, making the structure of HISP resemble censuses but keeping a truly longitudinal format.

The database is stored in a SQL database and is accessible to researchers upon request.
