Environmental Scholarships from Sveriges Ingenjörer

Apply for a scholarship to contribute to a greener future!
As a student, you now have the opportunity to receive support for a degree project that makes a real difference – for the environment, society, and the future.

Through the Environmental Fund’s scholarship, you get the chance to realize an idea that could lead to a new product, service, or solution that promotes sustainable development in Sweden. Turn your thesis into something greater – make it a step toward change.

Sveriges Ingenjörer manages the Environmental Fund of Sveriges Ingenjörer, with annual grants from Swedbank’s Humanfond. The fund aims to support projects that improve the physical environment in Sweden and its surrounding regions.

This is done through scholarships that give students the opportunity to work on these issues. The goal is that the results of the degree projects will lead to new companies, new jobs, and/or implemented solutions that improve the physical environment in Sweden.

The inaugural call for applications in autumn 2025 attracted 28 submissions

From students enrolled in engineering programmes and international master’s programmes at the Faculty of Science and Technology. Of these, ten degree projects have now been selected to receive an environmental scholarship of SEK 50,000 each.

Who Can Apply?

All students enrolled in a Master of Science in Engineering or an international master's programme at the Faculty of Science and Technology who will carry out their degree project in the spring of 2026 are welcome to apply.

The scholarship is not available to students in bachelor's or university engineering (högskoleingenjör) programmes.

Each scholarship is worth SEK 50,000 per project. If you are conducting a joint project, you submit one shared application. A total of ten projects will be nominated by the faculty and submitted to Sveriges Ingenjörer.

Selection Criteria

General Criteria

  1. The degree project must be assessed as having high scientific quality.
  2. The results must be considered to offer a solution to an environmental issue, contributing to the green transition and/or addressing climate challenges, with the potential for physical application in Sweden.

Faculty-Specific Criteria

  • Scholarships are open to students planning a degree project within the next calendar year, with the majority of the work carried out during the spring semester.
  • The project must be conducted as part of the programme's official degree project course. Applicants must be eligible for or gain eligibility for the course before the end of 2025 – this must be described in the application.
  • The project must be anchored with a supervisor; the application must explain how this has been arranged.
  • Students who are members of Sveriges Ingenjörer will be given priority.
  • If more than one student is involved in a selected project, the scholarship amount is shared.

Application

The application for Sverige's Ingenjörers Environmental Scholarship is closed for 2025 and will open again in October 2026.

From the 2025 application round, 10 degree projects have been nominated for the Environmental Fund’s scholarship.
