About the course
The course addresses tectonic processes that have transformed the Earth through time from the Archean until modern times with focus of Fennoscandia. Orogenses in different tectonic environments with examples from rock forming processes and development of tectonic basins. Examples of modern analogues to Nordic orogenies.
Methodological part: magmatic and metamorphic rocks form in orogenies with different magmatic and PT-evolution. Discussions on scientific controversies regarding tectonic processes in Fennoscandia.
