About the course

The course focuses on the role of psychosocial aspects in cardiovascular disease. During the course we go through the causes of, and measures against, mental illness after heart disease. Behavioural models for working with behaviour change during both primary and secondary prevention are described. Specialised heart disease diagnoses that require a specific approach are covered separately. Finally, inequity in cardiac care and rehabilitation is addressed based on factors such as gender, socioeconomics and severe psychiatric illness.

The course is stand-alone, and can usually count as an elective course in the medical programme, physiotherapy programme, psychology programme or as a PhD-course. If this is relevant for you, check with your program beforehand. The course can also be used for continued professional education in the fields of medicine, nursing and psychology. The course is part of the European University ENLIGHT's course catalogue.
