About the course
The course is specifically aimed at foreign exchange students enrolled at Uppsala University who have some prior knowledge of the Swedish language. You might have learned the basics through participating in and passing Basic Swedish 1 or by equivalent studies. Basic Swedish 2 gives you a more profound knowledge of the Swedish language through teacher-led training and to an extent self-instruction.
The course deepens your knowledge of Swedish language structure, vocabulary and writing skills. Listening comprehension and pronunciation are also included in the course. The course also includes exercises and assignments to improve your oral and written communicative skills. All these parts are taught parallelly throughout the course.
During the course, we expand from Uppsala and student life and dedicate the studies to more general themes. The courses' texts and themes focus on areas like family, spare time, professions, education, geography, science, and the environment.
Taking the course also entails the opportunity to get to know and study with other international students. The course includes 48 lessons and you meet the teacher and your group twice a week. The passed course gives you 7.5 credits and you will be at the A2 level on the CEFR scale.
It is necessary for the applicant to be enrolled at Uppsala University and registered in the student register (Ladok) of their main department before an application can be granted.
