About the course
If you're eager to develop games for Android, learn a bit of Kotlin, and make a few fun games along the way, this course is perfect for you! This is a hands-on, online course that introduces you to game development for Android. Throughout the course, you'll create small games while learning how Android apps work-covering everything from their lifecycle to handling user interactions and managing assets. We'll focus on 2D game development, giving you the core building blocks for a simple game engine, which you can then expand upon to create your own unique games. Although the course is beginner-friendly for Android and Kotlin, some prior programming experience is necessary to hit the ground running.
Outline for distance course: The course has no mandatory meetings. The course home page in Studium is used for communication and dialogue. The teacher will be available for supervision on Zoom.
The course requires a computer running Android Studio and an Android Virtual Device (AVD). A physical Android device running at least Android 13 (API 33) is highly beneficial but not strictly necessary.
