Aims

The aim of the programme is to provide students with the possibility to pursue studies in philosophy at second cycle level (advanced level) in order to further develop their knowledge and understanding, competence and skills, and judgement and approach, in such a way that, after earning a degree, they are well prepared for complex work in qualified occupations and for further studies at third cycle level (PhD studies).

  • demonstrate the ability to identify and formulate issues critically, autonomously and creatively as well as to plan and, using appropriate methods, undertake advanced tasks within predetermined time frames and so contribute to the formation of knowledge as well as the ability to evaluate this work. In this regard the student shall, in their degree project (master's thesis), autonomously and creatively have defined, delimited and completed a research task in philosophy in the form of a scientific article.

For a Degree of Master (120 credits) the student must:

  • demonstrate the ability to make assessments in philosophy informed by relevant disciplinary, social and ethical issues and also to demonstrate awareness of ethical aspects of research and development work
  • demonstrate insight into the possibilities and limitations of research, its role in society and the responsibility of the individual for how it is used, and
  • demonstrate the ability to identify the personal need for further knowledge and take responsibility for his or her ongoing learning.
