Learning outcomes
This course is intended to provide a deeper understanding of various components involved in empirical psychology research and scientific writing. It covers relevant research methodology and statistical analyses, and serves as a preparation for empirical work.
Content
This course consists of three parts a) Methodology and statistical analyses (7.5 ECTS credits) provide deeper knowledge of research methodology and its application within psychology, as well the use of descriptive, inferential, and multivariate statistical analyses, library skills and writing reports which gives knowledge about content and disposition of scientific reports and experience in library use; b) Scientific project (15 ECTS credits). At the beginning of the course, students choose an area of study for an independent scientific project, which they plan and carry out under supervision. This part runs parallel with other parts and includes planning and project seminars; c) Elective course (7.5 ECTS credits) given at the department to be chosen individually by each student.
Instruction
Full-class lectures, group discussions, seminars and tutorials.
Assessment
Written examination, participation and completion of tasks, oral defence of scientific project and report, serving as an opponent at another student's project seminar, participation in all planning and project seminars.
