The course is given within the teacher training program for preschool class and primary school..
Entry requirements
150 credits from semester 1-5 and 15 credits from semester 6 within the teacher training program for preschool class and primary school.
Learning outcomes
The course intends to give an advanced knowledge of diversity issues as well as the ability to work with and reflect on diversity in teaching.
On completion of the course, the student should be able to
- account for the role of diversity issues for the formation and content of the Swedish education system from a historical and contemporary perspective.
- describe and problematise concepts such as diversity, gender, sexuality, ethnicity and intersectionality in relation to teaching
- identify and analyse how different perspectives on diversity influence teachers' choices of teaching methods and strategies, subject content and the development of pupils' knowledge
- analyse and discuss, based on theories and practical strategies concerning diversity in primary and lower-secondary school, different situations that teachers may encounter,

• Diversity issues in Swedish schools from a historical and contemporary perspective
• Central concepts and theories within the field of diversity and teaching
• Didactic choices in relation to diversity in the primary and lower-secondary school
