120 credits within natural sciences/engineering/pharmacy.
Learning outcomes
The course aims to equip students with key knowledge about the functions of the firm with a specific focus on business strategies and organisational issues as viewed within industrial operations.
Upon completing the course, students are expected to be able to:
- define the role of the firm in relation to the surrounding context and the entire society, considering how the firm is organised and managed via strategic plans,
- discuss the most important perspectives within organisational studies,
- analyse the context of an organisation in terms of competitors, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders,
- analyse the strategies of a firm by means of the most important strategy models, so to be able to identify the possibilities and barriers for a firm’s development,
- explicate the connection between technology, context and the firm’s internal organisation,
- formulate a company’s strategy based on the models and concepts discussed during the course.

Industrial management, organisational forms and organising. Business strategies, marketing and purchasing.
Instruction
Lectures, exercises, case discussions and seminars.
Assessment
Written home exam, passed seminar works and final memo.
