General provisions
Substitutes earlier course 3FK931 or 3FK309, Degree Project in Analytical Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
The degree project can be carried out within the university or externally or it can be designed as a collaborative project. The subject must be established by an examiner at the Faculty of Pharmacy after having consulted student and supervisor. Before the start of the course, the selection of supervisors and the planning of the work must be accepted by the Faculty of Pharmacy's examiner. The student must be registered at the Faculty of Pharmacy.In addition to the compulsory written and oral presentation of the degree project it should also be presented in a popular science manner through participation with a poster or a talk in a symposium that is organised at the end of the semester.
Entry requirements
For students on the pharmacy programme applies that at least 180 credits within the programme, including analytical pharmaceutical chemistry, bioanalytical chemistry and product and process analytical chemistry, must be passed at the beginning of the course. The students must have participated in all earlier courses on the programme.
For single subject course 180 credits of which at least 90 credits, including at least 15 credits at level C, are required in the area pharmaceutical chemistry or equivalent. Courses on at least 7.5 credits at level C must be in analytical pharmaceutical chemistry or equivalent. Knowledge in Swedish or English equivalent to the requirements for basic qualifications to Swedish higher education on basic level.
Learning outcomes
The student should independently be able to solve a problem, formulated for the degree project, by working after an experimental design commonly compiled by the student and the supervisor. The student should be able to present, in both oral and written form, the scientific work including the achieved results on completion of the course . The student should after completed project work be able to search, evaluate critically and assess information and knowledge at the scientific level, and further have the ability to solve problems independently. The student should understand current scientific issues within the subject area of the project and have a scientific attitude towards these issues.
Content
The course is comprised by an individual assignment that is based on a scientific basis and that is carried out under guidance of a supervisor in close connection with ongoing research or development project. In connection with the work the student enters deeply into scientific theory and research methodology. During the degree project the student obtains possibilities to apply knowledge that has been acquired in earlier studies. The work should elucidate the connections that prevail between undergraduate programme, research and development work and connect to the future profession and methods that are used in the area.
Instruction
Teaching is performed by individual supervision and instructions for literature studies.
Compulsory parts of the course: Course start, written presentation of the degree project as well as oral presentation of the work through participation in a general seminar announced by the department as well as a popular compilation of the project work in the form of e g a poster or a talk in the symposium that is organised in the end of the semester.
Assessment
The degree project is presented orally and written in a report that has the form of a scientific essay, including a popular compilation. A passing grade requires passed oral presentation including opposing on another student's project (1,5 credits), participation in the student symposium (1,5 credits), passed written report and participation in all other compulsory parts.
