Learning outcomes

After completing an internship at a diplomatic mission, organisation, institution or company linked to India or Pakistan and approved by the department, a student who obtains the grade Pass must be able to:

* use Hindi/Urdu in practical assignments in an adequate way;

* handle daily tasks linked to the country or the region to which the internship relates;

* describe work at a workplace linked to the country or the region to which the internship relates.

Instruction

The teaching consists of practical training. The student's own learning activities are crucial for completion of the course.

Assessment

The student demonstrates the results of their learning through

- a written report in Hindi/Urdu of about 3 pages;

- an oral presentation of their experiences to a group of students studying the subject;

- an oral examination in Hindi/Urdu.

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. Special circumstances can include notification of special educational support from the University's disability coordinator.

Other regulations

The student is personally responsible for finding a place for an internship at a diplomatic mission, organisation, institution or company linked to India or Pakistan that the department approves for the purpose. The student must present a document showing that an internship really exists and provide the department with the employer's contact details before registration. The department takes the final decision as to whether or not the internship is approved. After the internship, the student hands in a certificate to the examiner from the employer that a) shows what the student has done during the internship, b) gives a statement about the student's performance.
