General provisions
The course is given as an independent course. The course can be counted to the minor field Hebrew in a Bachelor' s degree.

Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- account for general phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics and basic grammatical terminology,
- account for the Hebrew location among the Semitic languages and for the difference between modern and classical Hebrew,
- describe the fundamental features of the Hebrew notation, sound structure and elementary morphology and syntax with using basic linguistic terminology,
- account for the most important morphological words, basic nominal and verbal structure, and be able to analyse and construct elementary phrases and clauses,
- read elementary vocalised texts with justifiable pronunciation,
- without aid translate textbook texts from Hebrew to Swedish,
- analyse word forms in some given elementary texts in Hebrew.
Content
The course gives an introduction to general grammar and phonetics, the most essential of the notation of the classical Hebrew, sound- and morphology and the basics in syntax.
Instruction
The instruction consists of lectures, exercises and assessment. The student's own learning activities are crucial for completion of the course.
Assessment
Examination takes place through a written test.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator.
Other regulations
The course may not be included in a degree if equivalent parts have been studied within another course included in the degree.
