Entry requirements

Internship 1 in Turkic Languages, 15 credits

Learning outcomes

For the grade of Pass, on completion of the course students should be able to

  • use the main language of communication in practical assignments in an adequate way
  • handle daily tasks linked to the country or the region to which the placement relates.

Content

The course includes practical training of at least 20 weeks at an embassy, organisation, institute or company with ties to a Turkic-speaking country or region that the department has approved for the purpose.

Instruction

The teaching consists of practical training. The student's own learning activities are crucial for completion of the course.

Assessment

Students demonstrate the results of their learning through a combination of a certificate from the employer and a short written report that gives an account of the nature of the tasks, the connection of the workplace to the student's main language field and the relevance of studies in Turkic languages for the sector of working life to which the placement belongs. Furthermore, the student presents their experience orally to a group of students in the field.

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. Special circumstances can include notification of special educational support from the University's disability coordinator.

Other directives

The student personally applies for an internship to carry out practical training. The student must present a document showing that an internship really exists and provide the department with the employer's contact details before registration. The department takes the final decision as to whether or not the internship is approved.
