Learning outcomes

At the completion of the course, students should be able to:

  • understand the significance of the theme of the course for discussions of art and the mind more generally

Content

Art is a product of human minds. Art is appreciated by human minds. Both art and the mind are complicated, with many aspects. So philosophers of art have examined many relations between aspects of art and aspects of the mind. This course focusses on one such relation. The content varies according to the research specialties of the teacher, but examples might include art and emotion, art and imagination, fiction and understanding, and painting and perception.

Instruction

Instruction is provided through lectures and seminars. The language of instruction is English.

Assessment

The course is assessed by a home assignment.

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator.
