General provisions
The degree project can be carried out within or except the university or as a collaborative project. The subject should be established of examiner at the Faculty of Pharmacy after having consulted student and supervisor. Before course introduction, choices of supervisors and the planning of the work should be accepted by the Faculty of Pharmacy's examiner. The student should be registered at the Faculty of Pharmacy. In addition to the compulsory written and oral presentation of the degree project it should also be presented in a popular science manner through participation with a poster or a talk in a symposium that is organised at the end of the term.
Entry requirements
180 credits of which at least 90 credits within pharmaceutical science and/or pharmaceutical bioscience and at least 15 credits at level C. Previous studies should include biochemistry or cell biology. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6. For the Master of Science Program in Pharmacy, the studentshould have 180 credits including Pharmaceutical Cell Biology.
Content
The course is comprised by an individual assignment that is based on a scientific basis and that is carried out guided by a supervisor in close connection with ongoing research or development project. In connection with the work the student specialises in science theory and research methodology. Under the degree project, the student obtains occasion to apply knowledge that has been acquired under earlier studies. The work should elucidate the connections that prevail between undergraduate programme research and development work and connect to the future work and methods that are used in the area.
Instruction
Teaching be announced in the form of individual supervision literature studies and seminars. Compulsory parts of the course: written presentation of the degree project as well as oral presentation of the work through participation in a general seminar announced by the department as well as a popular compilation of the project work in the form of e g a poster or a talk in the symposium that is organised in the end of the term.
Assessment
The degree project is presented orally before an audience and written in a report that has the form of a scientific essay, including a popular compilation.A passing grade requires passed oral presentation including opposing on another student's project (1,5 credits), participation in the student symposium (1,5 credits), passed written report and participation in all other compulsory parts.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator.
