Learning outcomes

Upon completion of the course, students should be able to

  • give an account of sustainability challenges,
  • apply the UN's Global Goals for sustainable development to an organisation,
  • give an account of the concepts of sustainable development, sustainability, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and social responsibility (SR), Triple Bottom Line and Creating Shared Value,
  • describe sustainability reporting according to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI),
  • analyse a sustainability report.

Content

Planetary Boundaries and Agenda 2030. Driving forces for sustainable development and how these relate to the responsibilities of organisations. Different ways for sustainability reporting and measurement. Examples of organizational change for increased sustainability. Value chains and processes. Triple Bottom Line. Creating Shared Value. Global Reporting Initiative Standards.

Lectures, exercises and assignments.

Assessment

Written assignments. Quiz.

​If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding targeted pedagogical support from the university's disability coordinator.
