Entry requirements
120 credits including 60 credits in chemistry. Admission requires a project plan accepted by the department. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- account for how research and/or scientific development work can be organised and implemented at a university department, a company or an authority.
- perform literature search to acquire relevant information for a planned research project.
- with limited supervision independently participate in a well-defined scientific research project.
Content
Under supervision of a researcher responsible for examination the student shall be informed about the goals of research projects and the methods used to achieve them. The student will be given opportunities to participate in practical work at the department under proper guidance. The student should participate in the internal lectures, seminars and other gatherings where common workplace issues are discussed. Furthermore, the student has to familiarise him/herself with the theoretical background for one of the research projects at the department. Literature for these theoretical studies is selected by the supervisor.
Instruction
Instruction is given in the form of individual tutoring.
Assessment
The researcher responsible for examination designs and carries through the examination of the theoretical part. The practical work will be presented orally at the department/company and in a written report according to the instructions given by the supervisor.. In order to pass the course, an approved examination on the theory, as well as approved oral presentation and written report are required.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
Other directives
The course cannot be included in the same degree as 1KB044, 1KB057 or both 1KB046 and 1KB047.
