Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, students should be able to
- give an account of the difference between the roles of coach, mentor and supervisor,
- give an account of how difficult conversations can be handled,
- describe how coaching and supervision can be applied individually and in groups,
- plan, carry out, present, evaluate and provide feedback in individual coaching,
- give an account of different coaching models and tools.
Content
Coaching, mentorship and supervision and the differences between the concepts and how they can be applied as well as their connection to the leadership, leadership styles and role of the manager. Difficult conversation theory. Coaching models and tools. Responsibility and roles associated with supervision and coaching, individually and in groups (employer responsibility and individual responsibility). Coaching of an individual.
Instruction
Lectures, discussion groups and seminars.
Assessment
Written and oral presentation of assignments and active participation in seminars.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may decide to make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding targeted pedagogical support from the university's disability coordinator.

The course cannot be included in a degree together with 1TG262 Leadership and Coaching.
