Learning outcomes

The student should independently be able to solve a problem, formulated for the degree project, by working after an experimental design commonly compiled by the student and the supervisor. The student should be able to present, in both oral and written form, the scientific work including the achieved results on completion of the course . The student should after completed project work be able to search, evaluate critically and assess information and knowledge at the scientific level, and further have the ability to solve problems independently. The student should understand current scientific issues within the subject area of the project and have a scientific attitude towards these issues.

Content

The course is comprised by an individual assignment that is based on a scientific basis and that is carried out under guidance of a supervisor in close connection with ongoing research or development project. In connection with the work the student enters deeply into scientific theory and research methodology. During the degree project the student obtains possibilities to apply knowledge that has been acquired in earlier studies. The work should elucidate the connections that prevail between undergraduate programme, research and development work and connect to the future profession and methods that are used in the area.

Instruction

Teaching is performed by individual supervision and instructions for literature studies.

Compulsory parts of the course: written presentation of the degree project as well as oral presentation of the work through participation in a general seminar announced by the department as well as a popular compilation of the project work in the form of a poster and a talk in the symposium that is organised in the end of the semester.

Assessment

The degree project is presented orally and written in a report that has the form of a scientific essay, including a popular compilation in good Swedish. A passing grade requires passed oral presentation including opposing on another student's project (1,5 credits), student symposium (1,5 credits), passed written report (27 credits) and participation in all other compulsory parts.

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator.
