After completing and passing this course, the student should have the knowledge and understanding to be able to:

  • Explain and interpret agile project management methods and tools.
  • Use agile project management tools such as Scrum, to initiate, plan and execute game design projects.

Content

Throughout the course, students act as project managers over a group tasked with a project assignment where the group develops a small game. Students are required to apply agile methods to plan and organise the project work, which demands interaction between individuals and requires ability to communicate and use different tools for communication.

Students first receive a game design documentation which they develop into a full agile project proposal, then manage the project to its completion by implementing the agile project proposal.

The course focuses on providing the students with both comprehension and hands-on experience in using agile project management models and tools. Students will receive theoretical education on agile project management models and tools. The groups apply these models and tools by management of the project.

The agile approach needs to achieve a functioning group fast and to overcome conflicts and misunderstanding in communication. The tools taught to achieve effective communication are, actively listening, and the A-B-C-method.
