Learning outcomes

The course aims to provide in-depth knowledge in empirical data collection in relation to the selected and defined thesis topic in cultural anthropology and ethnology.

After completion of the course the student is expected to:

  • have acquired in-depth, practical knowledge in anthropological and ethnological field methodology and/or archival research
  • have acquired in-depth knowledge and special insights within the field of documentation, which is related to the thesis project
  • have developed the ability to independently problematize issues within the area of the course and to report this in writing

Content

The course consists of the writing of a project description, as well as the implementation of data collection in the form of an ethnographic fieldwork (1-2 months) and/or archival research. The work ends with the writing of a report which is ventilated in seminar form.

Instruction

Teaching is given individually by the student's thesis supervisor.

Assessment

The course is examined by the student writing a report on the collected data and presenting it at a seminar.
