SIMPLER at UPPMAX basics
This article is intended for SIMPLER users who are less familiar with Linux and other aspects of the computing environment at UPPMAX.
Orientation
The SIMPLER infrastructure has an agreement with SNIC to keep its data on the secure compute system Bianca, hosted by the UPPMAX high-performance computing center.
Bianca has been set up primarily to enable large-scale computations on large datasets that contain sensitive personal data, and is a suitable platform for collaborative research projects of many kinds. This webpage is a primer for new and prospective users of Bianca and SIMPLER.
SUPR
SUPR is the SNIC user and project portal. This is the webpage where you can create and manage projects or ask for project membership. Once you have membership in a project, this is also where you apply for an UPPMAX user account (used to log in to Bianca).
Note that your account in SUPR is permanent, tied to your identity, and is separate from your user account on Bianca.
If you have problems logging into SUPR, finding projects, or anything else on the SUPR portal, please turn to SUPR support.
ACCOUNT CREATION
In order to use Bianca and get SIMPLER data, you need two accounts — one for SUPR (to get membership in a project) and one for UPPMAX (to log in to Bianca). Detailed instructions for applying to a user account can be found on our user account application instructions.
If you lose your UPPMAX password, follow this link to create a new password. This link can also be found on the UPPMAX homepage.
Logging in
If you need help to log on or do anything else on Bianca, please contact UPPMAX support. A convenient way to do this is through the SUPR support form.
