The Swedish Research Council is the largest external donor to research at Uppsala University. It is a government agency under the Ministry of Education and Research that supports research in all areas.

- 2022: SEK 752 million
- 2021: SEK 691 million
- 2020: SEK 703 million
- 2019: SEK 782 million
