Entry requirements
A Bachelor's degree with Semitic Languages as the main field of study or equivalent.
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to deepen and broaden the ability to textual analysis applied mainly to Hebrew prose texts.
On completion of the course, the student should to deserve the grade Pass at least be able to:
- translate selected texts in a methodologically aware way;
- carry out a linguistic analysis of the selected texts considering modern linguistic methods;
- interpret the selected texts within the scope of their historical and literary context;
- make a scientifically relevant compilation of the special linguistic and literary characteristics of the texts;
- discuss the relation between language and the understanding of gender.
Content
Reading of about 125 normal pages advanced Hebrew prose texts.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University´s disability coordinator.
Instruction
The teaching consists of supervision.
Assessment
The students show their learning results through a combination of examining activities, which can be oral or written. They can take place at a scheduled time and location (for example within the scope of regular teaching), or be such that the student carries them out alone. There will be instructions of this at the beginning of the course.
