Entry requirements
A Bachelor's degree, equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen, from an internationally recognised university
Learning outcomes
After accomplishing the course, the student is expected to:
-Be oriented in current theoretical trends in relation to how anthropology might be applied in non-academic settings.
-Possess a basic understanding of some of the differences between pursuing anthropological research in academic setting, and applying it in non-academic settings.
-Possess skills in how to develop professional documents to include anthropological contents: documents such as policy papers, desk-studies, Terms of Reference and tenders.
Content
The objective of the course is to focus on how anthropological knowledge can be applied to activities of non-academic organizations, both private and public. The course will be based on lectures by academics and professionals with experience of applying anthropology in their work in government authorities, consultancy firms and NGOs, and will be combined with practical assignments, such as the writing of professional presentations; writing and assessing policy papers and reports, as well as to elaborate Terms of References and tenders.
Instruction
The course is comprised of one or more of the following forms: lectures, seminars, field practise and/or tutoring. Language of instruction is English.
Assessment
The examination will be in one or more of the following forms: home exam, memo writing, group work, active seminar participation and/or oral exam.
The course will be assessed with the following grade system: Fail (U), Pass (G), Pass with distinction (VG).
