About the course
Through the course, you are given an advanced introduction to feminist cultural studies as a research field. The course is focused on how gender and other dimensions of power are implicated in the production and reception of cultural texts and how representation affects the construction and performance of gender. Through the course students address central theoretical and thematic approaches in the field of feminist cultural studies and discuss them in relation to specific examples from (for example) mass media, film, television, art, literature or computer games. The course consists of seminars and individual oral and written assignments.
