Nordic Journal of African Studies

The Nordic Journal of African Studies is an interdisciplinary journal focusing on Africa that has appeared since 1992. It is published by the Nordic Africa Research Network (NARN). Current Editors-in-Chief are Dr. Jonna Katto, and Dr. Thera Crane, both at the University of Helsinki. Between 2018 and 2022, the Editor-in-Chief was Professor Annika Teppo, Dept. of Cultural Anthropology and Ethnology and Forum for Africa Studies. Annika now serves as the Associate Editor of the journal.
Since 2023, the NARN and Forum signed an MoU putting the Journal closer to the research environments at Uppsala University. The ambition is to strengthen this true open access journal (no fees for authors or readers) as a Nordic scholarly flagship journal.
