Health Economics in Focus
Health is a valuable asset, both for the individual and for society at large. At the Centre for Health Economics Research, we collaborate to increase our knowledge of new challenges regarding efficient and equitable resource utilization and access to health.
Our vision is to create an internationally competitive research environment. We also want to create a national centre of excellence for register-based medical and health economic evaluation. Furthermore, we conduct research on methods for pricing and reimbursement in health care. Important issues concern, for example, medical interventions, individual responsibility, and equality and inequalities in health.
Are cities creating or attracting healthy individuals? Causality and selection in urban health
People who live in cities have better health than people who live in rural areas. How can this be? Is it the cities that make people healthier (through, for example, better access to healthcare) or do healthier people have a greater tendency to settle in cities? This will be investigated by a new research program.
