CMH in search of researchers intrested in collaborating with artists
During the academic year 2026–27, the Centre for Medical Humanities will host an artist in residence, and is seeking researchers at Uppsala University who would be interested in collaborating with an artist within their research. Such a collaboration can take many different forms, entirely depending on the interests and conditions of the artists and researchers involved. This artist residency is organized in collaboration between CMH, the Public Art Agency Sweden, and Akademiska Hus.
As preparation for the residency, we will, during March–May, invite three artists or artist groups to carry out a mapping phase at Uppsala University. During this phase, they will, with support from CMH, explore possibilities for collaboration with researchers. The thematic focus is medical humanities, which in this context means that, in principle, all researchers within the Scientific Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy, as well as researchers in other disciplinary domains who contribute to, relate to, or are interested in medicine, care, or health, are of potential interest. One of the three artists will then be selected to become the residency artist for 2026–27.
At CMH, we would very much like to hear from researchers based at Uppsala University who would be open to meeting one (or several) artists during March–May to discuss possibilities for collaboration during the next academic year. It is likely that participating researchers will be able to receive some compensation for their involvement in the residency. Please note that this is not yet confirmed, but a decision will be made during the spring.
