Artist-in-residence

Medical humanities is about placing issues related to medicine, disease and health in a cultural and social context. It is also an interdisciplinary research field where different knowledge traditions from the medical sciences and social sciences/humanities meet. Inviting active artists through an artist in residence program is a way of also introducing artistic perspectives on medicine, care and health into this already interdisciplinary field.
The focus on artist in residence at CMH is an initiative to promote artistic perspectives on medicine, pharmacy and care, as well as the societal and cultural issues that relate to them. The aim of the residency program is to investigate and develop new forms of exchanging experience and knowledge between artists, researchers and students, in order to thereby broaden the perspectives with which we investigate and understand phenomena and processes related to medical humanities.
Our aim is for this to become a recurring feature of the activities at CMH. We are currently investigating the possibilities of implementing more artist residencies in the future, together with other actors.
