The Centre for Medical Humanities (CMH) is an interdisciplinary unit that promotes and conducts research and educational development at Uppsala University in the field of medical humanities. Medical humanities is an interdisciplinary field of research in the borderland between the humanities and biomedicine. This includes humanities and social science research in the medical field, as well as research in the medical field that uses theory, methods and perspectives from the humanities and social sciences.

Our activities are focused on supporting interdisciplinary collaboration in education and research, initiating courses and course elements that can integrate humanistic and social science perspectives in the medical professional educations, as well as building research networks and promoting multidisciplinary research collaboration around medicine and health.

Organisationally, the Centre for Medical Humanities is located at the Department of History of Science and Ideas at Campus Engelska parken.
