Two visiting PhD students will join CMH for the coming autumn semester
CMH are pleased to welcome Siddharth Nair, PhD researcher in informatics at Umeå University and Grace Brimacombe-Rand, PhD researcher in English at King’s College London as visiting PhD students during the autumn semester. We are very honored by the large number of strong applications, making the choice pleasantly difficult.
Siddharth’s research focuses on digital health for managing chronic conditions. In his research, Siddharth critically explores how new digital health and AI tools are designed, examining how the process enables, empowers, or limits end-users' (patients and clinicians) involvement, and ability to influence technology development. His work is aligned with critical feminist and STS perspectives that emphasize patient empowerment using participatory methods.
Grace’s work examines the lived experience of chronic illness and sexual violence in Anglo-American contemporary texts. Her research explores the representation of disabled and traumatised bodies, in contemporary experimental British and American writing. Further, Grace continues this exploration through her own creative practice of poetry. Her research is aligned with medical humanities, disability studies and feminist perspectives on the body in contemporary culture.
