Research at Uppsala Antibiotic Center is carried out by the members of the UAC Research Community and the UAC Research School, spanning all three disciplinary domains at Uppsala University, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, and the Swedish Veterinary Agency.

Research at UAC is grouped into four areas that you can explore. Members can appear in more than one depending on their projects and expertise.
Medicine & Pharmacy
New antibacterial drugs, better use of the ones we have, and how bacteria defeat them
Natural Sciences & Technology
How resistance arises at the level of genes and cells, and the tools to detect it faster.
Humanities & Social Sciences
Who decides how antibiotics are used, who pays, and who is held responsible.
Veterinary & Environmental Sciences
Resistance moving through farms, food, water and wildlife.
The people behind the research
UAC Research Community: Researchers from postdoc to professor, at Uppsala University, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and beyond. Members can join at any time, bringing their existing research into our shared cross-disciplinary setting.
UAC Research School Doctoral students working on antibiotics and resistance, from any academic setting in Uppsala.
Both are open to new members.
Past projects (2017–2024)
Between 2017 and 2024, UAC funded research through two competitive grant rounds: 14 PhD projects selected in 2017 and 14 more in 2021, across all three disciplinary domains at Uppsala University and at SLU. Those projects are archived on the Past Projects page. From 2025 the centre moved to the membership model described above.
