Cecilia Persson researches biomaterials for additive manufacturing, focusing on biodegradable alloys for temporary implants. Her work examines how degradation behaviour and ion release reduce bacterial attachment and confer antibacterial effects.

- Biomaterial development for and through additive manufacturing (3D-printing).
- Biodegradable materials reducing long-term risks for bacterial attachment.
- Antibacterial effects of the above materials, due to eg ion release and local pH changes.

Ongoing research projects
3D-printed biodegradable alloys (for eg temporary orthopedic and pediatric applications). Many alloys contain ions or a degradation behaviour that indicate antibacterial effects to different extents (eg Mg).
