Elin Svensson
Elin Svensson applies modelling to global health and particularly to tuberculosis treatment. Her work covers dose and regimen optimization for novel compounds, biomarkers of treatment response, and paediatric treatment.
Research focus and interests
- My research is focused on pharmacometric models applied in the area of Global Health, primarily aiming to improve treatment of tuberculosis, especially addressing the threat of multi-drug resistant variants. Three main themes are dose- and regimen-optimization of novel anti-tuberculosis compounds, biomarkers for treatment response and better treatment for children. Most of my projects are international collaborations, e.g. with the IMPAACT network, the PanACEA consortium and the UNITE4TB consortium. I am also affiliated with Radboud University Medical Center, The Netherlands.

I am leading the pharmacology and pharmacogenomics work package in UNITE4TB where we are developing novel regimens to treat TB with compounds from among others GSK, TB Alliance and Otsuka. Phase 2 studies PARADIGM4TB, ENABLE and SYNERGY.
PanACEA (website)
European-African clinical trials consortium optimizing dosing of novel oxazolidinons and rifampicin. Evaluation of novel culture-free biomarkers such as MBLA and LAM.
Pediatric TB-treatment (website)
Dose optimization of delamanid, bedaquiline and pretomanid through IMPAACT-lead clinical trials.
TASP and EX-DR (website)
EDCPT-funded clinical trials in design phase focused on extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis.
