Katarina Blomkvist received her PhD from Uppsala University in 2009 with the thesis titled “Technological Growth in the MNC: A Longitudinal Study of the Role of Advanced Foreign Subsidiaries”. Since 2014, she has served as a senior lecturer at the Department of Business Studies.

Katarina's research focuses on entrepreneurship and innovation, with a particular emphasis on intrapreneurship within established organisations. Her work explores how firms build and sustain innovation over time, especially under conditions of uncertainty, complexity, and turbulence.

Her research bridges theory and practice by integrating insights from evolutionary theory, strategic management, and organisational behavior. She is particularly interested in how variation, selection, and retention mechanisms shape innovation processes inside firms, and how managerial structures and cultures can either enable or constrain entrepreneurial action.

Katarina has been a member of the research team responsible for developing and delivering Uppsala University’s Master’s programme in entrepreneurship. Her teaching primarily focuses on the launch and scaling of new ventures.

In addition to her academic contributions, Katarina actively engages with organisations and policymakers, applying her research to real-world contexts. This dual role strengthens the relevance and impact of her work, positioning her at the intersection of rigorous scholarship and practical transformation.
