Developing of mapping approaches to investigate gene functions in cyanobacterial strains
About the project
A major goal of our research is to understand how genes contribute to cyanobacterial growth, metabolism, and adaptation to different environmental conditions. Although the genomes of many cyanobacterial species have been sequenced, the functions of a large proportion of their genes remain poorly understood.
We develop and apply high-throughput, genome-scale genotype–phenotype mapping approaches to systematically investigate gene function in different unicellular cyanobacterial strains. By perturbing large numbers of genes in parallel and measuring how these changes affect cellular fitness and metabolism, we aim to identify genes and regulatory networks that control important biological processes.
