Description
Lignin is the second most abundant biopolymer after cellulose on Earth and the primary source of aromatic compounds. The production of the macromolecule above from agricultural wastes causes the economic attraction and broad availability of such material. Lignin is an essential source because of its highly functional character and richness in phenolic and aliphatic hydroxyl groups. Biochar is a well-known carrier with a strong structure. It is characterized by advanced surface stability in the broad pH media, fast adsorption kinetics, thermal stability, high specific surface area, and resistance to microbial attack. During the realization of the Project, it is proposed to develop an approach to preparing a novel class of green functional hybrid materials based on biochar and lignin.
