Description
The Asian monsoon sustains two thirds of the world’s population and, in China, the geographical limit of its extent coincides with a major environmental, demographic and economic divide known as the Hu Huanyong Line (HHL). Despite its importance, understanding of past environmental changes along this highly sensitive boundary remains limited.
This project develops a research and higher education partnership between Uppsala University and Nanjing University to reconstruct climate variability during the last glacial–interglacial cycle along the HHL, identify the underlying forcing mechanisms and assess environmental impacts over time and space.
The collaboration includes joint fieldwork, postgraduate mobility for laboratory and field visits with joint supervision, workshops and staff mobility.
