Carl Nettelblad and Philipp Rümmer will give their inaugural lectures as professors on 10 November
During Inauguration week, from 9 to 13 November, Uppsala University will welcome 43 newly appointed professors. The week features public inaugural lectures and concludes with the formal professorial inauguration ceremony on 13 November.

On Tuesday, 10 November, the newly appointed professors of the Faculty of Science and Technology will deliver their inaugural lectures. Eleven professors will participate during the day, including Carl Nettelblad and Philipp Rümmer from the Department of Information Technology.
Through their lectures, the professors will present their research and highlight some of the questions, challenges and developments shaping their fields today.
Here, Carl Nettelblad briefly talk about his lecture and the research hewill be presenting:
- I will talk about how observed data is always uncertain, when we use our own senses as well as in big data science. I’ll then discuss how we can use scientific computing to try to reconstruct a more complete picture of the outside world, for genetics and for a field of structural biology. I also just might quote some Swedish Eurovision Song Contest winners…
- Regarding my view of the inauguration, it’s naturally a milestone in my academic career, and a day, or a week, of celebration. On the other hand, not much has changed in my duties and my research interests have stayed quite consistent throughout my career so far, says Carl.
