PhD employment and admission
Most of our PhD students are employed with a salary after successfully applying for an advertised PhD position. Scholarships and employment within industry or at another university are special cases. Vacant PhD positions are announced when funding is available, which can happen at any time during the year. Advertisements are published on our external website and on uu.se.
If you are offered the PhD position you applied for, you must, together with your supervisors, complete the following three documents (forms are available on the faculty website) to apply for formal admission to the PhD programme:
- Application for admission
- Cover sheet for admission to doctoral studies
- Individual study plan
Send these documents along with copies of your transcripts, diplomas and degree certificates from undergraduate or higher education to it-hr@it.uu.se. HR will collect all documents and prepare an employment contract, which is then submitted to the Head of Department. The Head of Department makes the final decision on whether the applicant is admitted to the doctoral programme.
