Olivia Steen wins the Swedish Pharmacy Association's Award for best presentation at this year's R-POPS

RPOPS 2025

Monday 24 March, the Bachelor of Science Programme in Pharmacy arranged this spring semester's symposium R-POPS, where our future pharmaceutical experts present their degree projects. "This is definitely a very talented group of future prescriptionists," states Chief Pharmacist Fredrik Boström, before presenting the Swedish Pharmacy Association's Award for best presentation to Olivia Steen.

The Bachelor of Science Programme's popular science symposium R-POPS - where the students present the results of their degree projects to fellow students, teachers and families - has quickly established itself as an appreciated tradition at the Faculty of Pharmacy. Monday's edition was no exception and Auditorium B42 was well filled as the future prescriptionists presented the outcome of studies focusing on Antibiotics for pets, Drug tharapies during pregnancy, Cannabis-induced psychosis and a long list of current challenges in the world of pharmaceuticals.

“To convey complex information in an accessible way is one of the most important tasks of a prescriptionist, and as Deputy Dean I feel very proud as I listen to today's presentations. These works are of consistently high quality and I am really looking forward to meet this group of students again in the Uppsala University Grand Auditorium when it is time for their graduation ceremony," says Anja Sandström, Deputy Dean for first and second cycle education.

Also on site in Uppsala was Chief Pharmacist Fredrik Boström, who stated that this is a very talented group of future prescriptionists before presenting the Swedish Pharmacy Association's Award for best presentation of degree project to Olivia Steen.

"I have interviewed students in the upper secondary school science program about their attitudes towards the prescriptionist profession, and the fact is that none of the students I met knew what a prescriptionist does. However, during the conversation they showed great interest in the many opportunities that a pharmaceutical education opens up, so my recommendation is to increase the interaction between upper secondary school students and the prescriptionist programmes. To receive the Swedish Pharmacy Association's Award today among all these interesting presentations is incredibly honorable, and I am so grateful to everyone who arranged this day for us," says Olivia Steen, who will next begin her Work Placement at Kungsholmens Apotek Hjärtat.
