Our research areas
At the Department of Medicinal chemistry, six groups work to develop substances into drugs and treatments, often in collaboration with partners in Uppsala, Sweden and beyond our nation's borders. Our scientific progress provides a solid foundation for regrowth, strategic recruitments and bringing a successful tradition into an exciting future.
Analytical Pharmaceutical Chemistry
Bioanalysis, determination of drugs and metabolites in biological systems and separation methods linked to mass spectrometry.
Pharmaceutical physical chemistry
The Drug molecule's structure, physicochemical properties and control in particulate drug carriers and formulations.
Drug design and discovery
Research with a focus on early drug development in the areas of antibiotics, peptides and computational modelling.
Preparative medicinal chemistry
Research with a focus on design and synthesis of molecules in early pharmaceutical research and method development for synthesis.
Theranostics
Research with a focus on the development of radioactively labeled, targeted molecules for better diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of prostate cancer.
Translational PET imaging
Molecular imaging technology, including PET, aiming to investigate and add new knowledge about metabolic diseases and cancer.
