Our new pharmacy students have arrived in Uppsala

Nya studenter på BMC 2026

This week, we are welcoming all our new pharmacy students to Uppsala University and the Biomedical Centre. “It is always a pleasure to see BMC filled with enthusiastic students and to be part of their first steps towards becoming the next generation of pharmaceutical experts,” says Deputy Dean Christian Sköld.

On Monday 31 August, the Faculty of Pharmacy had the pleasure to welcome all our new students to Uppsala and BMC. Among them are the new students enrolled in our Bachelor of Science Programme in Pharmacy, which, following the broadening of the eligibility requirements, now also accepts students with, among other qualifications, an upper secondary school exam in social sciences. Ahead of the autumn semester, the number of first-choice applicants increased by 573 per cent. An immediate success that made the programme rise from 75th to a top-10 position among Uppsala university’s most popular programmes.

“It is inspiring to meet these highly motivated student cohort with good prospects of successfully completing their studies. Our development of the course content means that we are well prepared to welcome this group in the best possible way, and we are confident that this will make a valuable contribution to ensuring that society has access to even more highly skilled prescriptionists,” say Fredrik Jernerén, Programme Chair, and Emma Lundkvist, Programme Coordinator.

On site to welcome our new Master of Science in Pharmacy students on their first day at BMC were Karin Svensberg, new Programme Chair; Lisa Fredriksson Carreras, who continues in her role as Programme Coordinator; and Christian Sköld, who in July was appointed Deputy Dean for the Faculty of Pharmacy's first- and second-cycle education.

“It is always a pleasure to see BMC once again filled with enthusiastic students and to be part of their first steps towards becoming the next generation of pharmaceutical experts. We hope they will have many rewarding and educational years here at our Faculty of Pharmacy,” says Christian Sköld.
