Dreaming of China

During the 18th century, an idealised image of China spread across Europe. Notions of a prosperous and harmonious empire in the East, together with large imports of Chinese objects, had a significant impact on European culture. In this exhibition, the 18th-century dreams of China are represented through images and artifacts from the collections of Uppsala University and the Swedish Linnaeus Society.

This exhibition has been made possible through contributions from the Beijer Foundation and the Torsten Söderberg Foundation.

Note! This exhibition is closed.
