Tandem Laboratory

The Tandem Laboratory is a national research infrastructure for resources in ion-beam induced modification of materials and precise tailoring of material properties. It utilises three infrastructure accelerators in multitude of ways in its three core activities: accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS), ion beam materials analysis (IBA) and ion-beam modification of material (IBMM). In addition, extensive support is provided for sample preparation and handling in special lab premises.

Uppsala University hosts the Tandem Laboratory. Other participating higher education institutions are KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Linköping University.

The Council for Research Infrastructures (RFI) funds this research infrastructure, which the Swedish Research Council considers to be in the national interest.
