Student service changes its name
Cecilia Andersson (far right in the picture) is Head of the Student support unit and together with 16 employees, the unit provides support and service to students, management, teachers and others active in the scientific field of medicine and pharmacy.
Hello there, Cecilia Andersson, Head of Unit at the Faculty Office for Medicine and Pharmacy. Your unit, Student service, pharmacy, medicine and care, is changing its name to the Student support unit.
Why is the unit changing its name?
“We wanted to clarify our mission. Last year, we conducted a review of our organisation and work tasks. During that period, we noticed that there can sometimes be confusion between our targeted support and the overall support that the University Administration provides to the Disciplinary Domain. So, to clarify our mission and consolidate the development work we have done, we wanted to give the unit a new name.”
Why the Student support unit?
“We think that ‘support’ is short and easy to remember. The other units at the Faculty Office are called Faculty support, Education support and Research support, so the name change makes it more consistent for the Faulty Office.”
Who works at the unit?
“Most, but not all, of the study counsellors who support the students at the Disciplinary Domain work with us. Overall, it can be said that we help with guidance for students, handling of student matters and programme-wide administration of various kinds, for example, questions regarding student recruitment and arrangements.”
Where can you be found?
“We are located in A4:1 at BMC, close to the Disciplinary Domain’s students and teachers. Everyone is welcome with cross-programme questions. If you have specific questions about a programme or need support with planning, prioritisation or study techniques, you can get help from a study counsellor.
